GENERAL
This page gives you information about Fernanda Lewis Millinery and the legal terms and conditions (Terms) on which we sell any of our hats and headpieces to you.
These Terms will apply to any contract between you and Fernanda Lewis Millinery, so please read the Terms carefully and make sure that you understand them before ordering any pieces either in person or through our website (our site). Please note that by placing an order in person or via our website, you agree to be bound by these Terms.
We may amend these Terms from time to time, so every time you wish to order a piece, please check these Terms to ensure you understand what will apply at that time.
Online Shop – the online shop at www.fernandalewismillinery.com
Studio – Fernanda’s studio in London
We/Us – Fernanda Lewis and the people that assist her.
Client(s) – People who order hats and headpieces from Fernanda Lewis Millinery
Made to Order – A hat or headpiece that is made according to client choices from our Online Shop or Studio.
Bespoke – A hat or headpiece that is made from a specification given directly from the client to Fernanda Lewis and often requires specific measurements, colour dying, and specially chosen trimmings.
Sample Piece – A hat or headpiece that has been created for display and/or photographed for our site or publications.
One-off Piece - A hat or headpiece that has been created using materials of limited supply or vintage items which cannot be sourced again and is therefore one of a kind and copies cannot be made.
Our system – the Online Shop ordering system.
An Order – The detailed elements of a hat or headpiece that is specified by a client to be custom-made or bespoke made on the client’s behalf by Fernanda Lewis Millinery.

PLACING YOUR ORDER ONLINE
Hats and headpieces featured on our Online Shop are each handmade to your specification following your online order, and thus are custom-made.
The prices shown are per article but exclude delivery charges. We reserve the right against obviously incorrect prices shown on the website. We reserve the right to change prices and conditions without notice.
We have made an effort to show the colour of the items as close to reality as possible. However, the colours that appear on the screen can vary in accordance with the quality and/or settings of your computer monitor. We cannot guarantee that the colours shown on the website exactly reproduce the colours of the actual items. If you're would like to receive a sample colour in the post please email us with your postal address, the colour that you are interested in or send us a picture of your outfit as we are happy to give our suggestions.
You will be sent an automatic email acknowledging your order is placed and/or moves through the process (within 24 hours).
Fernanda may contact you to discuss any details of your custom-made piece.
PLACING AN ORDER FOR A BESPOKE PIECE
Fernanda Lewis Millinery can also create bespoke pieces to match your outfit and occasion. Bespoke pieces can be ordered by calling us to schedule an appointment at the Studio and placing an order in person or after consultation via email or telephone.
Hats and headpiece prices are quoted based on specification at the time of the order. Changes to the hat or headpiece after the original quoted price, may result in a price increase, subject to your approval prior to proceeding.
In most situations material sourcing and custom dying are included in the original quoted price. However, in exceptional circumstances where materials or dyes are not readily available, an additional sourcing fee may need to be added. We will always contact you by phone or email with updates for your approval prior to proceeding.
For all bespoke orders a 50% non-refundable deposit is required and the remaining balance is paid upon collection or the day before dispatch.
For orders that require materials to be specifically dyed to match, a sample fabric from your outfit will be required. We cannot guarantee a colour match based on photographs or digital images.
Bespoke hats can require 2-3 consultations depending on design, these appointments are included in the agreed price. Appointments take place at the Studio in London. If it is not possible for you to come to the Studio, special arrangements can be made. There may be a fee for external consultations. If you are out of town or overseas, we can work together through email, phone calls and photographs of the process, to guarantee a result that meets our standards and your expectations.
HOW TO PAY
All Online Shop orders are made to order and are paid in full at the time of the order.
Orders placed in person at the Studio can be paid for with cash, card or cheque.
Work will not begin on your order until payment has cleared.
DELIVERY
We aim to dispatch all Online Shop orders within 4 weeks, subject to order confirmations and payment received. The order will be delivered to the address provided by you at the time of placing the order. We cannot be responsible for errors in the delivery information that you supply to us. Any dates quoted for delivery are approximate only. We shall not be held liable for any delay in delivery times, however caused. Any claims for loss or damage to the shipment are the client’s responsibility.
Orders over £100 are delivered within the UK via trackable Royal Mail Special Delivery service. A signature will be required upon receipt of delivery. Orders under £100 will be sent via regular post with Royal Mail.
We are able to deliver to most global locations, if you are outside of the UK, please contact us for a separate shipping quote. Orders will be delivered via international registered post. A signature will be required upon receipt of delivery. The cost will be determined once the location is confirmed. Shipping overseas may incur import taxes (these are the client’s responsibility).
You can also collect you order in person from the Studio in London. Please select this option during check-out and we will be in touch when your order is completed.
Rushed orders or specific dates may be accommodated but have to be agreed and confirmed by Fernanda, please get in touch if you require a faster delivery time.
Delivery of Bespoke pieces will be dependent on design and guidance on this will be given at the time of placing your order.
CANCELLING AN ORDER
A cancellation of your online order is only available for one-off designs and sample pieces where no request of adjustments have been made, for pieces where this applies it is clearly stated ‘One-off’ or ‘Sample’ in the item description. Please contact us within 14 days of placing the order to cancel.
As all other hats and headpieces are made to order to your requirements and handmade we are not obliged to offer a cancellation option.
RIGHT OF RETURN AND REFUND
Made to Order and Bespoke hats and headpieces purchased from Online Shop or the Studio are not available for a refund or return. If you are not completely happy with your hat or headpiece, please contact us directly and we shall attempt to resolve your concerns. We want you to be delighted with your order.
On occasion, we sell Sample or One-Off pieces, if you have bought a Sample Piece or One-Off piece through the Online Shop, you have the right to return it and obtain a full refund. You must request the refund within 14 days of receipt of the piece and the piece must be returned in the original condition, in the original box and with all original tags still attached. We are unable to offer a refund or exchange if it has been worn, is marked or damaged, or has not been returned with the original tags on or in its original box.
If, instead of a refund, you would like to exchange a sample piece for another, please telephone or email us.
This right of return and refund does not apply to any made to order or bespoke pieces, and this policy does not affect your statutory rights.
DATA PROTECTION
Your personal contact details are only used to process and send your order and are not distributed to third parties. Payment details and transactions online are secure and protected. We do not store your debit/credit card data.
